2026 Assembly - MAJOR UPDATE - VENUE CHANGE

Big news from the Assembly Planning Committee (Rob Stevens, Annie Burke, Nick Dombrowski, Deborah Gardner, Nick Dennis, Colleen Delisle, Benson Gray, and Michael Grace):

Some significant changes at Paul Smith's College (PSC) have made it so that we are unable to hold Assembly there in 2026. While the future for the WCHA at PSC is unclear at present, a new location for Assembly 2026 has been secured. We will be returning to Keuka College on Keuka Lake, New York. Assembly has been held there multiple times over the years, the last time in 2009. Keuka College is very welcoming to the WCHA, they have excellent modern facilities, and there are more details to come that should be very good news for all of us. In addition to the college's lodging and dining facilities, there is good lodging and dining in the immediate vicinity (within just a few miles), and camping is available on campus and nearby.

No one on the Planning Committee was happy with the loss of PSC, but there was no choice but to look elsewhere. We have been increasingly concerned about deteriorating facilities and high costs at PSC, but new changes there require us to move elsewhere at least for this year. The Planning Committee efficiently sought out alternatives and after substantive, detailed conversations with Keuka College, it was selected as the new Assembly location for 2026. Watch here, on our social media, and in the Spring issue of the Wooden Canoe Journal for more details and registration information. NOTE: the Winter issue of the Wooden Canoe Journal is already printed, so disregard references to PSC there. There will be a correcting flier with the Winter issue of the journal, and the Spring issue will contain full details and registration information.

Please join us at Keuka College for Assembly 2026, focused on watercraft of New York including all forms of canoes, sailing canoes, and Adirondack guideboats. Other than the location change, we plan for Assembly 2026 to be the same kind of excellent event as always with a full slate pf programs and speakers, on-water activities, kids programming, canoes on the green, and so much more. We are looking forward to a great Assembly!

Wow! Big news. I have not been to Lake Keuka, so look forward to seeing the new locatlon... and it is a shorter drive!! Thanks for all the efforts to find another fine forum location.

Detailed information on everything is forthcoming; I don't want to dribble it out here and possibly even make mistakes. We are still in the planning stages with Keuka College but we will have all details soon. With that said, there will be an option for camping on campus.

My personal experience has been that if you plan to camp at any of the local State run parks, you need to act quickly. For many state campgrounds, the window of opportunity has already passed. This is especially true if you need an RV site. Finger Lakes campgrounds are extremely difficult to book good sites at and fill almost as soon as they open for registration. A quick peek at KLSP shows only 80 sites of 149 remaining and none of those include electricity, if that is something you need or desire.
The work around is to explore sites at private campgrounds. The better sites at these also book quickly, but they can be easier to get into.
