Curious about how many coats of varnish those of you who have a matte finish on the interior use. I am using Epifanes and have applied a total of 3 moderate coats of gloss finish so far. Debating on one more coat and then going with a final coat of matte; or just going with the last coat of matte now, which would give me 4 total coats on the interior (durability issues with 4 coats?). Depending on how good I am with that last coat of matte finish, I might end up doing 2, if I find places that I missed.... Maybe I'll just do 2 thin coats of the matte... I do plan on going 4 coats of gloss on the exterior (unless there are recommendations to do more).
Also, if any of you can speak of experience of recoating after signs of use on the matte finish, I'd love to hear how that has gone... I am curious if you'd sand through the last matte finish , apply 1 coat of gloss, and then hit it with the matte onece again, or just scuff the existing and reapply the matte...?
