Paddles for canoeing solo

    I'm late coming to this thread.
    When I turn my W/C Prospector around for solo paddling, I am almost in the widest section of the boat. I use the longest paddle I have to avoid too much sliding side to side on the seat. I do kneel primarily, but that is not as big of a factor for me as the width I am paddling from.
    When I take my little Bell Merlin out for a paddle, I use a shorter paddle as the width in this canoe is much narrower then the Prospector. I do believe the big factor for me is the width of the canoe from the position in the canoe.
