Curious about Wooden Canoes
While paddling a small lake a couple weeks ago we spotted the classic canoe shape under a porch above the lakeshore. We asked the folks there if it was indeed an old canoe, and sure enough it is a 16' Old Town they've owned since '51. They are looking to get rid of it as the husband is "too old to work on it" and they don't use it. They said "make an offer." It is in decent shape from what I could tell from a quick look...one inwale needs repair/replacement, and it needs canvas and stripping/varnishing. The ribs and planking look good. It is rigged for sail, and has coaming on the decks. I'm not interested in it but thought I'd pass it along to anyone out there looking for another one, you might get a good deal. It is located near Plymouth, NH.
