Vintage wooden canoes now a lot cheaper in Canada

To my American friends. Due to exchange rates the American dollar is now worth about 20% more than the Canadian dollar. For example, a $2500 Canadian bought canoe will only cost about $2000 in US dollars. Might be well worth a trip into Canada too buy that Chestnut, Peterborough or Huron you always wanted ........ and I happen to have a few advertised in the WCHA classifieds.

Good point, Dave! And unless those who are building new canoes in Canada have raised their prices, there'd be some Modern Classics that would be a deal now, too!

You can also apply for a GST rebate (13%) when you go home, just keep your receipt.

If you buy privately here in BC there are no sales taxes on most items including canoes. I think it is probably the same in the other provinces. Check with your seller.
