I was emailed photos of a w/c canoe that was found overgrown in the grass in Richmond, VA. The owners of the property have no clue as to its history. Before I reply to them, here's what I see: typical w/c construction, open gunwales, diamond head bolts, holes drilled in seat frames - suggesting 1920-1940. Profile, etc. consistent with Old Town. However, the bottom is flat, much planking rotted away and along with it a lot of ribs. My inclination is to advise them to have a weenie roast. What have I missed? Comments & alternatives welcomed.
