It happened to me a couple of times before I started doing this.....
New canvas stretched, filled and painted..... Putting things back together and the original sail hardware holes cannot be found.
I've found that if I put dowels in the original holes that stand slightly proud as place marker. Once the hull is finished I tap the dowel out, then reattach the original sail apparatus.
