hi, I just bought an Old Town Wood Canoe its serial # is best I can tell 116810 17 the man I got it from was in mid 70s and said he inherited from his late uncle who bought it new in 1929 . if any body can give me any info on canoe I would greatly appreciate it. the canoe appears to still be original all wood is in tack and still varnished ,decal is still on bow deck, canvas is still in tack no rips or holes paint is pealing , seats are there caning is wrong but seat frames are original, boat was always stored in doors needs work but in pretty good shape thanks Steen

Hello-- Old Town 116810 is a 17 foot CS (common sense, or middle) grade HW model canoe that was completed December 1935 to May 1936. It has red Western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seat frames and a keel. Original color was dark green. It was shipped to Long Island, NY, on May 18, 1936.
