Hello WCHA Folks,
I just picked up a canoe in need of restoration, and cleaned up the serial number enough to read it.
I was told its an old town, 1923 ORCA (which i am assuming is actually OTCA), just over 17 ft long, dark green (at the moment).
Serial number 41013. Thank you for any info!

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 41013 is a 17 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, Charles River model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, a keel, and a floor rack. It was built between December, 1915 and April, 1916. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It was shipped on April 26th, 1916 to Farmington, Connecticut. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/join to donate or join.

It is also possible that the canoe could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match. The serial number portion of this record didn't scan well but it is located between serial numbers 41012 and 41014 which are more clear. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the project,

Benson
