The Old Town canoe with serial number 157832 is a 15 foot long lapstrake boat so that isn't a good match. My guess is that you have the Old Town canoe with serial number 157732, This is a 15 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Fifty Pound model with a keel. It was built between May and June, 1952. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 23rd, 1952 to Youngstown, Ohio. A scan of this build record is shown below.

The decks, thwarts, and seats were usually a hard wood like ash, oak, maple, or birch. Pictures can help if you are still not sure.
