I worked as a guide at Sommers from 1972 until 1975 and paddled number 170314 until I bought it pretty beat up 1977 for 200 dollars. I replaced the damaged planking no broken ribs and recovered it myself with new canvas then repainted it and new spar varnish in 1978. Still in dental school so no money at that time so paddled it with my boys and daughter over the next 40 years in the BWCA and Quetico. I've spent quite a few hours with Joe and actually helped bend sone ribs. Got on his list for a new one but due to the fire it was lost. Three years ago, I had Alex Comb of Stuart Canoe Works totally restore it. I must say I have never paddled a canoe that handled as well and met fierce water as well. Many hours on Agnes, Kawnipi the S chain and Beaverhouse. Good times remembered what a wonderful life hope you all can enjoy the wonders of solitude only the waters, silence and night skies can give you. Thanks for reading.
