Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hello to all fans of canoe model,
Recently I had the chance to discover this original photo taken between 1875 and 1880 which presents a model of canoe of Samoa. It is an albumen silver print mounted on cardboard. This canoe model was in the famous XIXth French collection of a lawyer from Caen, Albert Peschard (1836-1902). But his collection has now disappeared, perhaps in the bombing of Caen and the fire of the Faculty of Sciences in 1944. Some albumen silver prints from his collection are kept at the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum in Wellington New Zealand. I wanted to share my discovery for you to enjoy
I wish you a beautiful day in Belgium.
Fabrice
