Sailing? Rigging? at Paul Smiths Assembly-2012

I am bringing my Old Town HW, mast & spars, Leeboards & brackets, and a Todd Bradshaw (Addiction Sailmakers) lateen sail based on an early Morris Canoe sail (documented by Todd on his posts to this forum http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?8557-Replicating-a-1908-Morris-Lateen-Sail ). I discovered the demo model sail on eBay a few months ago and bought it. I've never sailed, but, since the canoe had the mast step and mast seat and I stumbled across leeboards and spars, lucked onto the sail and can tread water and swim,......

I'm thinking there may be some folks at assembly Friday afternoon or Saturday or Sunday morning who would like to join me as I try putting this all together and trying her out.

Anyone interested?

I see three more Addiction Sailmakers canoe sails on eBay. I'm just sayin'......................

I suspect that you will get lots of advice once you show up with your canoe and sail as Kim suggested. I would be glad to go over it with you but won't have much free time from Friday noon through Saturday morning. Another option is to post some pictures of what you have here and then people can offer comments if anything important appears to be missing. I plan to have my 16-30 there... Though Fitz can attest that they are a somewhat different beast.

Hope there is a bit more breeze this year than last...

Benson, I think you replied to one of my earliest posts when I discovered the mast and spars...and referred me to the image of the sail specs. I forgot that it had line lengths. I'll order the lines and possibly stain them before I come. I know you will be busy! I'll be paying attention to at least one of your "tours". Thanks!

I'm thinking I will bring my OT Guide that I have rigged for sail. That way I don't have to swim with one of those infernal contraptions!

The 16-30's are fun but take practice methinks.

I will be bringing my sail canoe - we can learn together. I'm sure there will be plenty of free advice. Some of it may actually be useful - however nothing useful from this flatlander I'm afraid.

So that swim you took off Killbear point in your Old Town when you donated a shirt to the bay was an elective one?
