Pecaco "Notacrack" canoe

I've recently become aware of a Penobscot (Pecaco) sailing canoe for sale. It's the "Notacrack" build method:
https://woodencanoemuseum.org/index.php/patents/1195727-canoe

I understand that this is highly speculative, but might this type of canoe be of historic interest, and therefore, worthy of restoration?

All the sailing components seem to be present as well. I value the opinions of this forum and welcome your thoughts.

Arguably, most canoes are "worthy of restoration" so have fun. The catalog page at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/pecaco/notacrac.jpg describes this model. The canoe sailing page from the 1917 Pecaco catalog below may also interest you. Good luck,

Benson

Thanks Benson, I have seen several links to the Pecaco building method & deck design including the Joe Ranco patent information, but your sailing rig image & text you sent is new to me. Thank you! The image in your post reflects exactly what I have seen of the subject canoe (except that a rudder is not shown). Your image shows sponsons which the canoe I'm looking at does not have, but the sponsons may have been removed during a re-canvas some 20 years ago.

I don't know yet if I will pursue this canoe, but I'll keep the forum updated if I do.

That particular canoe did not have sponsons.
My impression is that the sailing rig was added after construction.
Mike
