"Just one more"
I am at the final stages of my restoration and am about to put on the outer gumwales. They have been final fitted on the boat and then removed to be stained and varnished. They now have two coats of varnish on them and the canvas has three coats of paint. I plan to sand they hull in preparation of the final coat of paint, then install the outer gunwales. Once the final paint is on, I plan to give the OG's and decks a final coat of varnish after the new decal in applied. My question is this : do I varnish over the screws in the OG's or should I apply the final coat with them off the boat. Will this effect the water proofing of the screw holes or just make it harder in the future to remove the OG's?
