Ot 42313 16

We would like the build sheet on our recently aquired Book Shelf kit #42313 16. We got it as a 'second' at a liquidation, "no payments until 2010", sale. How strictly must we follow the build sheet, or can we paint to match the walls & carpet?

Bookshelves! Hell, slap a coat of paint on her and she is ready to go paddling!

42313 appears on the build record for a 16' HW (Heavy Water) model in CS (Common Sense) grade. It had maple seats, decks and thwarts, and a keel. It was originally painted dark green and was shipped to Eaglemere??? PA in 1916. A copy of the build record is attached.

Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Float that boat - books shelves are for old folks! :D

Thanks Mike. Your optimism to paint and paddle has inspired us. But we now need to deal with the Kirby vs. Interlux issue, and do we paint it the original dark green or another color that was available in 1916.
Thanks again,
Dave & Peggy

It's your boat - don't feel constrained by the color on the build record - 48% were dark green. Pick a color you like and go with it - after a minor repair or two!

Thirsty-

But for a touch up the waterfall canoe is done. See before and After photos. Anything is possible.
I hope he doesn't want me to make bookcases of it now.
