Old Town Serial number

I have what I believe to be an Old Town canoe but the serial number is unbelievably small: 1601 17 Any help?

The lowest Old Town build record is for serial number 1604 so we can't help you. Do you have any pictures that you can share here? The shape of the decks, the way the outside rails end, the font used in the serial numbers, any decals or outlines on the bow deck, etc. may help identify it. Many other builders numbered their canoes in the same way as Old Town so most of the canoes with low serial numbers are not Old Towns. What more can you show or tell us?
