Old Town Serial Number Search

Hello, I’m in the process of restoring a canoe with the serial number 156560 - 16. It’s crazy you guys have such good records of all of these. I’d love to know what model/year this was and where it originally shipped to if anyone could help.

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 156560 is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Yankee model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, and a keel. It was built between October, 1951 and May, 1952. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It was shipped on June 5th, 1952 to Grand Rapids, Michigan. This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others.
