Hi Dan.
The Old Town canoe with #11342 is a 16 foot CS Grade (Common sense or middle grade) HW (Heavy Water) with Western cedar planking, spruce gunwales, decks, seats, thwarts and spruce finish rails. It was built in 1909 fitted with a keel, painted dark green and sold to a man in Forest Park, PA.
The Carleton Canoe with #11342 is a 17 foot CS Grade Carleton Model with Western cedar planking, spruce gunwales, ash decks, thwarts and seats. It was built in 1915, fitted with a keel, also painted dark green and sold to a supply company in Philadelphia, PA.
You need to check the number and/or measure the canoe to see what you've got.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See
http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA andhttp://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.
It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe.
Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
