Trying to research my Dad's Old Town wood and canvas canoe. I know it was part of an order sold to the Uwharrie Boy Scout camp in Greensboro, NC. Any help? Serial number is 169208. Thanks

Old Town 169208 is a 15 foot, fifty pound model completed August-September of 1959. It has thwarts instead of seats (common in Boy Scout canoes), a keel, and was originally dark green. It was shipped to the Uwharrie Council, BSA, in High Point, NC, on January 8, 1960. An inquiry was made 7-17-75 from Mocksville, NC. Image of the scan of this record is attached below-- click on it to get a larger image.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. Thanks for the quick reply. The name on that request is my Dad. He had the canoe in fiberglass for years, but several years ago did a nice resto with canvas to the OT dark green. It hangs in his den now. We were wondering how to value it. I am waiting for some pictures from him, but am not expecting Ansel Adams quality. Where is the best resource to get values, and where would be a good place to sell it? They live near the Outer Banks in NC now. Thanks again.

Why not list it in our classified section? Those that read it here know what a wood and canvas canoe is.Many are sold from there. posting pictures helps alot.
