Old Town during the War

"Just one more"
Recently I picked up an old single burner camp stove model 520 that was made by Coleman specifically for the government in 1946 for the war effort in North Africa. It got me to thinking did Old Town or any other canoe builders contribute to the war effort either by supplying boats, canoes, materials or what ever, just wondering. Thanks

The Old Town Canoe Company made paddles for life boats as their contribution to the war effort. An original case full of them from California showed up on eBay a few years ago. Many different Navy ships of all types were supplied with these. Penn Yan made utility boats as described below from their 1947 catalog. Grumman and Link made airplanes before making canoes. Others can probably offer more examples but those are the most obvious ones that I know about.
