Old Town Canoe - Any help with model?

I have an early 90s 16' Old Town.

I will be listing it for sale, and I understand value is relative, but I'm going to need some help with that.
If it's allowed for me to ask, please PM me your thoughts.

But can you help with a "description" I would need to do?
Is there a "model" type?

How would you describe this condition for a 20+ year old canoe?

Great condition? Good condition? Poor? Average?

Any advice is appreciated.

Your canoe's serial number is higher than the highest in our records, or I could look it up for you and give you some exact information on the canoe. It appears to me to be a late model Otca, AA (top) grade, with half ribs and outside stems. Someone else may chime in and verify this or provide a different opinion.

You might want to look at some of the listings in the classified section of this website to get an idea of what to say in your ad. Ads generally begin with the length of the canoe and date it was shipped and include the model and the canoe's grade and wood species. Then you'd state if the canoe requires any work-- cracked or broken ribs or planking and such. From the picture, it may be water worthy. No such thing as "average" condition... "average" for the canoes I tend to buy means "needs a lot of work"!

You might live near a WCHA chapter or a member who'd visit and assess the canoe in person-- the best way to evaluate condition is to have someone who knows canoes to look it over.

I agree with Kathy that you probably have an Otca model. I would not describe this canoe as being in great condition and even good might be a bit of a stretch. Most buyers will prefer to water test a canoe like this to determine how badly it leaks. The classifieds at http://wcha.org/pp-classifieds/showcat.php?cat=3 are usually one of the fastest ways to find a good new home for a canoe like this as Kathy described. Good luck,
