The Old Town canoe with serial number 103881 is an 18 foot long, AA (or top) grade, HW model with red western cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, half ribs, a keel, outside stems, a floor rack, and sponsons. It was built between November, 1929 and July, 1930. The original exterior paint color was orange with a black stripe and turned down ends. This was probably similar to the one shown at
https://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design39.gif which was later known as the design number 39. It shipped on July 18th, 1930 to Baltimore, Maryland. The back side indicates that this information had been shared with a previous owner from the Upper Chesapeake Chapter. Scans showing both sides this build record can be found below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. Please share a picture if the original design is still showing. Page seven of the 1930 catalog at
