Old Town 71334

We have just bought this canoe at an antique sale. It was being restored many years ago by a gentleman in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Unfortunately, it was never finished.

We are a family of Boy Scouters. Our troop has 12 Old Town Penobscot canoes. We were even in Old Town Maine once.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 71334 is a 16 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with red Western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, and a keel. It was built between April and May, 1922. The original exterior paint color was bright red. It shipped on June 1st, 1922 to Rochester, New York. This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well.
