If someone would be kind enough to provide the build card/background information on this canoe I would appreciate it.

Thanks! Rob

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 175042 is a 16 foot long Guide model with narrow two and 3/4 inch planking, a keel, outside stems, and the stern seat was moved two inches forward of the usual location. It was built between July and August, 1965. The original exterior paint color was O. T. (Old Town) yellow. It shipped on August 5th, 1965 to Canton, Ohio. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match. Let me know if you have other questions or if there is anything else that I can do to help.

Benson:
Thanks for posting the information on the boat. I've got plenty of questions but I'll spend some time looking through the archives to see what information I can find. I was thinking it may have been an HW model so it's interesting to see that it's a Guide.

Cheers: Rob

I was thinking it may have been an HW model so it's interesting to see that it's a Guide.

The HW models were last shown in the 1953 catalog and the 16 foot version of the Guide model was introduced in the 1954 catalog so it has been speculated that this new Guide model may really just be a 'low end' HW. Your thoughts might be correct.
