The Old Town canoe with serial number 148797 is a 17 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, Otca model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, and a keel. It was built between May and July, 1947. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on September 30th, 1947 to Saginaw, Michigan. You may want to verify the extreme overall length of your canoe and each of the digits in the serial number since the 18 on the end of the number you provided usually indicates an 18 foot long canoe.
