The Old Town canoe with serial number 147085 is 17 foot long, AA (top) grade, Otca model with eastern white Maine cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, caned seats, half ribs, a keel, outside stems, and a painter ring. It was built between December, 1946 and February, 1947. The original exterior paint color was similar to the one shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design47.gif which was known as the design number 47. It shipped on March 4th, 1947 to Scranton, Penna. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below.
This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. There is lots of good information here about rebuilding canoes and the pictures at http://www.wcha.org/Beeby-canoe/intro.html are a good summary showing how one person approached a project like yours. Several of the books at http://store.wcha.org/Books/ may also help.
