LOVES Wooden Canoes
I've struggled applying Watco to the gunnels of my canoes, for years!
I've been going to build these for a while, and beings I had two newly built canoes, ready for gunnel finishing , I made these !
This is my first Proto type, and I will give my improved version of the specs.
Pics first.
Cut 4 - 2 x 2 x 6' 8". Mortise the bottom supports ( Make them at least 28 " long, and 45 them.) Also bevel the bottoms of the 2 x 2s (30 degrees)
Measure down from the tops about 19 " drill holes in the legs to accept a 1/4" bolt, for the pivot.
The tightness of the bolt keeps the legs from slipping.
Pad the the tops, and you are ready to Watco or finish your gunnels.
These stands fold for storage, or could be modified to store two canoes !
I hope others can make use of these stands ! I know I already have !
