A canoe was donated to our organization and we don't know what it is. The decks are heart shaped and the stems are NOT splayed. There is a carrying thwart, but it is not bowed. It has decorative seat hangers and the keel is attached to each rib. Anyone know who the manufacturer might be?

Hi Barb,

The builder does not jump out at me, I do notice the ribs are not tapered and the keel is actually attached at every other rib.

You might first think something like Carlton, but their ribs were tapered. I haven't seen many finish washers on outwale screws either.

Maybe someone with more knowledge of the Canadian built wood/canvas canoes could help.

The canoe does look to be in very good condition.

Good luck,

Paul

Hard to tell with those few pics,

but that end shape and straight keel doesn't look very Chestnuty to me.

I don't have any other ideas either though.
