The Old Town canoe with serial number 55880 is an 18 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade Charles River model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, maple decks, maple thwarts, maple seats, and a floor rack. It was built between 1919 and 1920. The original exterior paint color was dark red. It was shipped on April 21st, 1920 to Saint Paul, Minn. This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others.
