I have a Shell Lake 18 Premium Guide canoe in the shop and the previous repair work resulted in the sheerline being very flat. I suspect the center gunnel was cut much shorter than original, because the width doesn't match the catalog width. The 1/4 thwarts may also have been moved forward and aft from the original positions. Either way, the flat spot is very unappealing and I'd like to correct it.
Does anyone have the same model Shell Lake that could post some measurements? Here's what would help:
1. Location of 1/4 and center thwarts counting from the first full rib beyond the end of the inside stem (on this canoe the center thwart is offset one rib forward of the center of the canoe.
2. Length of each thwart measured from the edge of each inwale (for 1/4 thwarts measure the longest edge).
Thanks!
