Looking for info

The Old Town canoe with this serial number is 16 feet long and doesn't have sponsons so you may want to take a closer look at the numbers in each end of your canoe to see if there are any missing digits. The tips at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?791 and posting some pictures here may also help.

You were right. A very faint 14 may exist. The complete number would be 145626. About 6" away is 18 which I believe is the LOL of the canoe. Thank you for your help.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 145626 is an 18 foot long, CS (common sense or middle) grade, HW (heavy water) model with open spruce gunwales, ash decks, ash thwarts, ash seats, a keel, outside stems, a floor rack, and sponsons. It was built between June and September, 1946. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It was shipped on October 8th, 1946 to Youngstown, Ohio. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions or numbers to try.
