Can anyone identify this please.
Thanks
Sam

Looks like a Northland from Huntsville Ontario. Wood fibreglass constructed by Albert Maw. His Huntsville shop burned down in mid-90s

More info info about Northland on this thread on the Canoetripping.net forums...

Is there a 4 digit serial number on the stem?

Also there's a photo of intact decal at the following thread: https://forums.wcha.org/threads/northland-canoe-nameplate.18032/

The info I tracked cited that Maw worked for the company when it operated under a different name, eventually purchased the business and changed it Northland circa 1967. He also used a numbering system for serials where the last two digits indicated the year of production. Might help clarify the date range if the seller can provide the number.

Thanks Murat and Benson.

I'll let you know what happens. Maybe I'll have to sell a canoe in order to fit this one in or maybe just buy to sell.

Sam

Thanks Alex.
I have agreed a price just now and will pick it up tomorrow if all goes well

I once owned a wideboard canoe built by Albert's father, Robert. It was only one of two known, the other being in the Canadian Canoe Museum.

As far as I know he does not. The only way to reach him is either go to a shop or call. I know it's taken several calls to get a hold of him.
