Help Identifying 12' Canoe

I need help identifying a 12'3" canoe which is 35-1/2" wide. It has a location for a mast on the bow stem. I can not find any serial numbers on the inside of the gunwales, stems nor decks. I was told it was an all original 1907 Old Town (except the hull covering, which was done to match a school's colors) but since I do not see any serial number marks, I'm not sure. Thank you, Sean

Welcome and congratulations, this canoe doesn't look like an Old Town from 1907. Their 11 and 13 foot wooden canoes were first introduced in the 1926 catalog. Their catalogs never listed a 12 foot long wooden canoe. The Phillips head screws in your thwart were invented and patented in 1933. Seats were hand caned until the late 1930s. My guess is that it was made in Canada. The link below shows one example of an Old Town from 1907 for comparison. Good luck with your research,

Benson
