HB Arnold # 17 874

Restorers
Today removed the original canvas from this Arnold. There is a name plate on the coaming. And found written on the garboard plank "Harry Blatchford better known as Kewpie Sept 22, 1916 Henry H. Warner Nice day clear and brisk" The 'brisk' is hard to read but the rest is quite legible.

So if they weren't lying we have a serial number and a date...

Hey, that's pretty neat! My guess is that Henry H. Warner must be the son of Ernest H. Warner. Ernest became partners with Arnold in 1903 (prior to that Ernest ran a sideshow in P.T. Barnum's circus).

Cheers,
Dan

Photos?

Hello smallboatshop:

Would it be possible for you to post a few more pictures of the details of this canoe. It would be nice to see the features of a documented Arnold with an apparent date.

Cheers.

Fitz

Hi Fitz,

I don't have good photos of the canoe before I started dismantling. The owner has his own with original paint design when he was a kid. Attached are a couple of photos of the decks. The painter rings were added by the owners dad and the seats have been replaced.

Dan
