The WCHA Board has two Nicks serving at the moment. In order to differentiate them, we fondly refer to them as Yankee Nick (our president) and Limey Nick (our vice president). The live across the pond from from one another, and are separated by a common language.

In any case, I just discovered this piece, a drawing by Edward H. Fahey that appeared in the Encyclopedia of Sport circa 1898. It is (was) a British publication, and shows a man paddling what appears to be a cedar-rib canoe. As Limey Nick has one of these canoes, one can speculate...

Picture obviously taken some time ago though Nick. It's in black and white so from back in the days before you took on serious pie eating.
 
I believe this Edward John Gregory painting from 1887 recorded what Nick may have been paddling after on that day. I will let him tell us whether it was the canoe or its contents that interested him most....
