Closed Gunwale Fastener Spacing

Hi all,
I'm putting the finishing touches on a 1916 OT Charles River and have a question. This canoe has closed gunwales. If you have a similar OT could you check the spacing of the escutcheon pin fasteners on the outwale and the cap, and let me know what you come up with? Does the spacing get less at the decks as you get closer to the tips?

This won't let me post attachments... PM me & I'll send images of the cap rails of my 1918/1919 HW rails. They're off the canoe right now, in the rafters, but you can see the holes where they escutcheon pins were. I included a tape measure in the images, so you can see how far apart they are.
