Classified response

Who hid my paddle?
I just got a response to my classified from a Dr. ____ _____ who asked about my 'Item" Anyone have a suspicious contact from a Dr. ___ ____? Send a pm for the real name. I do not wish to slander anyone, I'm just overly cautious.

Just had the same thing on Craigslist ad. Strange english and bad grammar were prevalent in their offer to purchase. Below is a copy of the correspondance. I replied with: "NO SALE".
Should have sent them an ES & D form!!:D

Classified scams

One does have to be careful. I got a little suspicious when I was selling a canoe some time ago when the potential buyer asked for the make and model of the engine, serial number and last inspection. I sent him a made up number for my Toyota engine. I am still waiting for the check.

Take care, R.C.

I get these attempted scams fairly often for canoes I have listed. I require prospective buyers to provide me with a real phone number and mailing address. The last one I got did provide an address and phone number, but a little checking on Google Maps revealed the address to be a vacant lot next to a shopping center in a commercial district, and the phone number was not in service. When I challenged the buyer to provide accurate information I did not hear back.

I had a few scam responses to c-list adds I posted.

The most interesting was one that asked for the same info I had provided in the add.

Usually I just say "cash at pickup" and I never hear from them again.

Dan

I wonder

Isn't there a way to report this to someone? I had an experience on fb and was able to report to them and they took care of it. Unrelated but still a way to stop an unwanted event/person.
