WCHA Three Rivers Chapter Chautauqua Outing

September 6-7, 2025

Friday September 5 - Arrive

• Contact Brad for help in finding accommodations

Saturday 9/6
10 am - meet at Cassadaga Park and paddle Cassadaga Lakes

• 25-49 Park Ave, Cassadaga, NY 14718

• We’ll be paddling along the Fern Island Preserve on the lakeshore, looking for birds and wildlife. https://www.chautauquawatershed.org/fern-island-preserve

After paddle - Takeout and picnic at Cassadaga Park

• Chapter will provide burgers, dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, chips, beverages and picnic ware.
• Feel free to bring whatever else you’d like to share.

After lunch - Hike Cassadaga Lakes Nature Park

• This nature preserve features two short trails for bird and wildlife observation: https://www.chautauquawatershed.org/cassadaga-lakes-nature-park

6 PM - Dinner: Pizza at The Lawson Center, Bemus Point

• 73 Lakeside Drive, Bemus Point, NY
• Brad will give a presentation on the history of canoe building at Chautauqua

Sunday 9/7

• 10 am - meet at Chautauqua Shores to Paddle Chautauqua Institution
• This will be a 2-mile out and back paddle across the spectacular Victorian lakefront of historic Chautauqua Institution. Time and weather permitting, we can take out at the Chautauqua Bell Tower beach and walk the grounds before returning to the put-in.
• Launch and take-out at Chautauqua Shores park,
• Crestwood Drive and Canterbury Drive, Chautauqua, NY 14757
• Please park on the roadside or the gravel drive in the park

After paddle - Takeout and lunch at She Sings Cafe, Mayville
