Carleton? Serial no. 15029 18 or 15028 18.

Many years back I rescued an 18' woody roadside in Gardiner, Maine. It has a curved short carrying thwart and heart shaped decks as described for older Carletons, and is a capped gunwale design. Serial number on both bow and stern stems is either 15029 18 or 15028 18 as best I can tell. Measures out with 34" beam and 12" depth amidships. The shape is slightly rounded and looks fast. Its been glassed unfortunately, but it was a poor job and looks like I can lift it off for recanvassing. I'd love to know more about what I rescued and plan to bring back. Hi Rob, Your Carleton is 15029. An 18' CS (Common Sense or Middle) grade with Western Red Cedar planking, spruce gunwales, birch decks, thwarts and seat frames. It was built in 1920, fitted with a keel, painted dark red and sold to C E Cobb in Denmark, Maine. The Cobb's owned and operated two camps on Moose Pond - Winona Camps for Boys which is in Bridgton and Wyonegonic Camps for girls in Denmark (the oldest continuously operating girls camp in the country).
