LOVES Wooden Canoes
Hello folks
Can anyone help me identify this old canoe that I have been sent these pictures and some information on?
It has a small deck at the rear and a larger deck with a brass ferule at the front.
It is approx 15 ’4” inches long, 2’ 4” at its widest point and 12” deep. Made of long wood lathes secured to about 100 wood ribs set 1”apart.
It has 3 thwarts and where the middle one is secured on the support block is the following numbers 0286 15 1/2
As I make wood strip canoes in the UK I occasionally get asked about old ones and have to confess my knowledge is minimal but to me she looks a bit like a Peterborough and I think someone mentioned to me in the past that they often had no inwales just like this boat.
Her Owner has asked for any info in particular the make age and possible value.
Many Thanks
