Build record for Old Town 175310

Hello All,

Wife and I just bought a 1963 Old Town Guide’s Choice from a nice couple near us on Craigslist.

We have already got it out for our maiden voyage and all was flawless. What a smooth ride! We are going to have to replace both cane seats.

Also just signed up for a year subscription and look forward to the magazines. Could someone help us with a build record for 175310?

Thank you in advance!

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 175310 is an 18 foot long guide model built on the Otca form with narrow two and 3/4 inch planking, a keel, and the stern seat moved two inches forward of the usual location. It was built between October and December, 1965. The original exterior paint color was G. S. (Guide's Special) green. It shipped on June 28th, 1966 to Acton, Massachusetts. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I appreciate that you have joined the WCHA so that services like this can continue.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Benson
