BN Morris 17' Torpedo Deck 1918 Restored

Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Just finished restoring this 17' 1918 BN Morris canoe. Serial Number 16433. Am reporting it here as it has some features that make it a bit unusual. The 24 inch long torpedo style Mahogany decks are the most prominant unusual feature but beyond that are the external oak stems and the unique style outer gunwale with both the outer and top gunwales as well as the coaming being made from Mahogany. The four boards in the bottom grate are definitely original whereas most Morris canoes appear to have 6 boards. According to Kathy Klos' book this canoe fits the description of a Model A, 17' Type 3 with closed gunwales. Am planning on keeping this unit as a sort of family heirloom.. Acquired it for $25 and had no idea what it was... What a grand surprise... I love the looks of this thing. Harold

Simply beautiful, Harold! Glad she will be a treasured heirloom. Your canoe is also unusual in that the serial number plate was found on the bow seat frame.

Certainly was an amazing find for $25!
