Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
In Memoriam
Or something like that... I just restored a very fancy 1948 Old Town OTCA with all the bells and whistles and mahogany trim. I delivered it this morning - 1.5 hours each way. While I was carrying the 85 to 90 pound, 18 foot canoe from my vehicle to the owner's dock, in front of the owner, the 64 year old mahogany center thwart broke over my shoulders......I held in many a curse word....All done, delivered and then have this happen!!!! ARGHHHH!!!

That will teach me. I should have found a way to get to Assembly and I may have avoided this disaster.

Fitz,
We missed you at assembly! YOU WOULD HAVE HAD A BALL HAD YOU BROUGHT YOUR SAILING CANOE!!
If you do not have any Old, "old growth" mahogany on hand to make a replacement, bring it to my shop at your convenience and we can sort thru & pick out a matching piece from some of the " old growth" Honduran mahogany that I have on hand.
