While looking around the antique extravaganza at Renninger's in Mt. Dora, FL, yesterday, I spotted an early Adirondack guideboat by A H Billings of Lake Placid, NY. Probably made c. 1900 +/-. Canvas covered smooth plank hull; copper tacked through over-lapped seams. This piece is in pretty decent condition with only a few cracked, but sistered, ribs and a minor bit of damage along with what appears to be fairly slight dry rot along a couple of seams for a very short distance. The asking price seemed fairly low, and the seller is quite negotiable. He wasn't even sure of what he had until I and another chap happened along and filled him in somewhat. I don't have pics, but owner can be contacted by phone. Send me a PM and I will happily provide his number to you. I'm not involved, nor looking for anything. However, if I wasn't already car-topping a canoe while I'm down here, I would have snapped this up in a heartbeat. Someone will get a great project piece if it hasn't already gone.
