Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Please research the build record for Old Town #172507. It probably is 16' with sailing rig from about 1962.
Thanks

The Old Town canoe with serial number 172507 is a 17 foot long Otca model with a keel. It was built between October and December, 1962. The original exterior paint color was pale blue. It shipped on February 28th, 1963 to Cleveland, Ohio. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. The sail rig was not mentioned on the build record but this was not unusual during this era. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions,

Thanks Benson. I don't think that is the right one since the canoe in question is 16' , has a sailing rig that appears to be factory, and would probably have been delivered to Connecticut. The definite numbers are 17250_ . I see you recently researched 172508 so that is not it. We have 9,6,5,4,3,2,1 left. My bet now is on 172504.
Thanks for all you do for the canoeing world.
