Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
Can anyone identify this canoe? Dimentions are 12' L, 34" W, 12"D. Ribs are 3/8"x 1 1/4" spaced 1 5/8" apart. Planking is 4 1/2" wide. Has a flat bottom and considerable tumblehome. All slotted screws. Probably originally had a shoe keel. Both decks and inwales are fastened on the inner faces with a brass band that is inscribed W.Haydon. Canoe appears to be vey well made. Ribs and planking probably Red Cedar. Note the unusual way that the decks and inwales come together.
