st. louis canoe company

I emailed Gil Cramer with some pictures and he said it looked like a St. Louis canoe he also said Wally Hauck could provide more info from the serial number. Either 1331 17 or 1381 17. Can't decider between the 3 or the 8. Thanks in advanced! Chris Chopp Kalamazoo, MI

I have what I think is a 17' square stern 1927 St. Louis Meramec Arrowhead "Meraco Speedster". I have been looking around and have found very little information on this canoe, and haven't seen any for sale or pictures of any restorations. Doe anyone out there have any information on these canoes...
