strips from ply?

    Is there any reason why you can't rip strip planks from a ply board and plank a canoe that way?

    Its difficult for me to get light clear grade timber were I live for a reasonable price this seems an affordable options if its going to be sandwiched between glass anyway.

    If you don't care how it looks. And you could always paint it.

    I have been known to economize myself. Personally, I'd use scavenged scrap lumber before using plywood.
