Info on Old Town canoe Serial number 185692

Welcome, the Old Town canoe with serial number 185692 is a 14 foot long F. G. (fiberglass) model that weighed 74 pounds. It was built in November, 1970. The original exterior gelcoat color was desert white on the deck with a red hull. It shipped on December 11th, 1970 to Cottage City, Maryland. The back side of the record indicates that it had some shrinkage on the bottom. It was purchased on June 2nd, 1971 and moved to Annandale, Virginia. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join, or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. More information is available from http://www.wcha.org/store/complete-old-town-canoe-company-catalog-collection in the scanned catalogs from the 1970s. The F.G. was renamed to the Casco model in the 1976 catalog. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
